Material: Poplar, bronze, and brocade.

Dimensions: Height: 117.5cm; Length: 80cm; Width: 80cm

Technique: Handmade and assembled using joinery.

Details: This altar was commissioned for a temple in Vietnam; it was made to memorialize Buddha’s birthday. Every aspect of the structure was intentionally made to be a miniature version of a temple that will contain a Buddha statue in the center. The ceiling was decorated with traditional Japanese brocade with cloud patterns. Underneath the capitals are the beams decorated with floral patterns made of bronze. Moreover, there is a pagoda finial on top of the altar made of multiple components, each with its Buddhist meaning. The pagoda finial is the representation of the existence of the Buddha.
